Our Purpose
Making We-ism a doctrine in action: not a thought that merely exists in books, but an institute that translates it into method — in governance, mediation, co-development — in service of the peoples of the Great Lakes and beyond.
Our Mission
TUZAFRIKA is an institute of thought and action (a laboratory of the doctrine of We-ism) that produces, disseminates and puts into practice the doctrine of We-ism. Through research, training and field support, we equip those — Companions, Living Landmarks — who choose to embody Useful-Existence within their own sphere of influence, whether they act as a Circle, as Ambassadors, or as Builders.
Our Vision
A civilisation of We where individualism is no longer the only conceivable path — where every existence rediscovers its usefulness through the bonds it weaves with others, where the Knot of Destinies becomes the organising principle of societies, institutions and diplomacies, and where Awakened Service is its daily practice.
Our Values
- Useful-Existence — no one is worth anything through isolation, but through what they bring to the shared fabric.
- The Knot of Destinies — our paths are bound together; the peace and development of some depend on those of others.
- Awakened Service — acting with clarity and responsibility, of which the Weaving Word — the art of connecting stories and memories — is one of the living disciplines.
Our Field of Action
Beyond the doctrine, TUZAFRIKA is an association under Belgian law whose social object, defined by its statutes, covers a broad operational field of action. Twelve areas structure our activity:
- Advocacy and monitoring — defending human dignity, fundamental freedoms and human rights defenders.
- Civic education — training in global citizenship, gender equality and intercultural dialogue.
- Mediation — community dialogue, reconciliation and transitional justice.
- Development — community resilience and economic empowerment of vulnerable populations.
- Communication — multilingual platforms and combating disinformation.
- Cooperation — international partnerships and citizen diplomacy between Africa and Europe.
- Environment and the ecology of the bond — shared management of cross-border ecosystems, notably the Great Lakes.
- Research and memory — interdisciplinary research and archiving of wounded memories.
- Human security and connectivity — mutual security and support for migration flows.
- Diaspora and transnational networks — mobilising African diasporas as a force for co-development.
- Digital governance — collaborative digital tools and data protection as common goods.
- Well-being of field actors — peer support and prevention of burnout among engaged Companions.
The Logo: a Reading of We-ism
The official logo represents two intertwined human figures, one in sienna, embodying Awakened Service, the other in gold, embodying Useful-Existence, illustrating the solidarity of « We-ism »: two distinct existences moving forward together, bound rather than opposed. Beside them, an ivory disc — sober and detached — symbolises the Knot of Destinies that binds the two figures together, that discreet point of light which accompanies and illuminates the shared journey. The whole is set against a deep forest-green background, embodying the bond, the service and the Knot of Destinies.
The Tuzafrika institute takes shape within a structure under Belgian law, in service of the doctrine and its field action.

Membership is open to anyone, of any origin and any belief, who subscribes to the Companions' Charter and commits to practising Awakened Service.
