Founder of Tuzafrika and Theorist of We-ism

Author, international consultant, strategy expert and researcher on the resilience of societies facing modern crises, theorist of We-ism, Tuza Shema has devoted his professional and intellectual path to the analysis of geopolitical dynamics and to conflict prevention. Drawing on his background in strategy and national security in the Democratic Republic of Congo, he now channels that experience into a reflection centred on peace, mediation, and co-development.
Backed by a solid education in economics and advanced defence studies, he has for many years served as a strategic advisor to various institutions, with a particular grounding in and sensitivity to stabilisation, governance and social cohesion in Africa's Great Lakes region.
Through his research work, his field analyses and his deep exploration of historical archives and memorial traditions, Tuza Shema forged an intimate conviction: the political, security and identity crises of our century all share the same root — the collapse of human connection in the face of a predatory and exclusive individualism.
The Journey
The Birth of a Thought, the Rise of an Institute
Refusing to remain a passive observer of global chaos, he set out to codify the ancestral wisdoms of solidarity and adapt them to contemporary geopolitical challenges. In doing so, he gave birth to the concept of Useful-Existence and theorised « The Way of "We" » (We-ism).
To carry this vision forward and give it concrete resonance, he founded TUZAFRIKA. This international institute is not merely a space for academic reflection; it is a laboratory of action where philosophy takes shape every day in the field, through Awakened Listening, the Weaving Word, and co-development.
Through his literary work, his lectures and his commitment within TUZAFRIKA, Tuza Shema has set himself the mission of awakening consciences, rebuilding bridges between peoples, and forming a new generation of leaders: the Companions.
Now based in Belgium, a father and a citizen of the world, Tuza Shema continues this work as President of TUZAFRIKA, while pursuing doctoral research on supply chain resilience against hybrid threats in the Great Lakes region. He leads the institute with an unshakeable certainty: peace is not a distant utopia — it is a science of interdependence that we must relearn and practise together.

« We-ism »: A Doctrine for Building Together
« We-ism » is not a mere idea or theoretical speculation; it is a structured doctrine of action, designed to transform the way we live and lead. It stands in continuity with the great reflections on humanity, while bringing a necessary break from the dead ends of our time.
A Philosophical Break
Where Western humanism long placed the autonomy of the « I » at the centre of its priorities, We-ism enacts a paradigm shift: it holds that the dignity of the individual is only fully realised in relation to others. Our conviction is summed up in this formula: « I am useful, therefore We are ».
What Sets Us Apart
The Tuzafrika doctrine is distinguished by three fundamental pillars:
- The shift from the individual to usefulness: Unlike individualism, which isolates, We-ism defines existence by its capacity to serve others. This is the demand of a « useful existence ».
- « Awakened Service » as method: Where many schools of thought remain abstract moral positions, we turn brotherhood into a rigorous method of management and daily life. We replace competition with cooperation.
- The « Knot of Destinies » as a shared horizon: More than surface-level solidarity, we advocate « Co-Genesis » (being born together) — the recognition that the destiny of neighbouring peoples cannot be separated. It is a strategic realism that turns social cohesion into a genuine lever for development.
Our Commitment
